"But you, O mountains of Israel,
you shall shoot forth your branches and yield your fruit to My people
Israel, for they are about to come. (Ezekiel 36:8)
"Sing, O daughter of Zion! Shout,
O Israel! Be glad and rejoice with all your heart, O daughter of
Jerusalem!...The Lord your God is in your midst, The Mighty One, will
save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His
love, He will rejoice over you with singing." (Zephaniah 3:14, 17)
The Halutzim were the early
settlers of Israel. By the labor of their hands, the Land of Israel was
renewed. After WW II, many settlers followed. Countless orphaned children,
victims of the Holocaust, were among the pioneers. The kibbutz, a
collective farm or settlement, became their home where all the children
were reared communally. Men, women, and children wore the Halutzim Hats for
protection from the sun, rain, and wind.
As we wear the Halutzim Hats, we
remember God’s great love for the Land of Israel and the Jewish people.
Our love to worship God through dance cannot be divorced from our love for
Israel and the Jewish people. |
